PA'IA, HI
THE FUNKY BEACH TOWN
From Kahului Airport, take Kala Road to Highway 36 and head east until you reach Baldwin Ave. Just five miles from the airport, you'll arrive in historic Pa'ia.

Built around a store for sugar cane plantation workers, this hospitable surf town is now a popular shopping destination with eclectic boutiques, pastel facades and plenty of delicious dining options. Grab a bite and catch a concert at Charley's or check out Pa'ia's buzzworthy art galleries.
HO'OKIPA BEACH, HI
WINDSURFING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
Return to Highway 36 and continue east to Ho'okipa Beach. Known for its high winds and epic surf, especially in winter, this North Shore destination hosts pro surfers from around the world. Watch them ride the waves from Ho'okipa Lookout.

For a closer view, walk the shore near the overlook, where a few turtles often beach. While strolling along, keep a close eye on the water past the beach reef to see Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles bobbing above the surface.
TWIN FALLS, HI
THE ULTIMATE SWIM STOP
When leaving the beach, follow Hana Highway to Mile Marker 2, where Twin Falls Farm Stand welcomes guests. Grab a snack or smoothie and visit nearby Lower Falls.

To arrive at iconic Caveman Falls, follow the dirt trail next to the farm stand. After a half-mile walk through lush jungle scenery, turn left at the fork toward the soothing sounds of the falls. Take a swim and enjoy photo opportunities, then explore the other trails or return down the main path.
GARDEN OF EDEN ARBORETUM, HI
BOTANICAL HAVEN
Continue southeast on HI-360 to Mile Marker 10.5. Drive in or wander along walking paths through acres of botanical gardens offering lush scenery, exotic plants and breathtaking ocean views. Bring a picnic and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Movie lovers should head to Keopuka Rock Overlook, featured in the opening scene of Jurassic Park. Other highlights include the arboretum's 100-year-old mango tree and an exclusive view of Upper Puohokamoa Falls.
KE'ANAE PENINSULA, HI
A HISTORIC HAMLET
Take HI-360 east to Keanae Rd and head north to Ke'anae Peninsula. This traditional Hawaiian village has grown taro, a potato-like vegetable, for generations.

The peninsula is a highly desirable destination for fishermen and photographers. Take in picturesque views while savoring local coconut candy and banana bread. Be sure to visit Ke'anae Church. Built in the mid-1800s, it was the only building to survive the 1946 tsunami that ravaged Ke'anae.
WAI'ANAPANAPA STATE PARK, HI
BLACK SAND BEACH
Return to HI-360 and head south for 16 miles until you reach Wai’anapanapa Black Sand Beach. Created by the rough surf breaking down the lava from Haleakala, the cove’s beach took a millennium to form.

Although swimming is discouraged here, visitors can take in the dramatic basalt coastline, view natural stone arches and sea stacks, and watch the ocean spray up through a geyser-like blowhole. For more adventures, hike King’s Trail then continue on to Hana.
